About the project

“The Aging African Diasporas” (TAAD) explores aging at the intersection of migration processes. For 3 years, the Eritrean, Egyptian and Senegalese diasporic communities of Milan, Bergamo, and hinterlands will be the project-privileged interlocutors.

Eritrean people are one of the oldest African communities of Milan, while Egyptians and Senegalese today are two of the largest African communities.

The project is lead by the “Riccardo Massa” Department of Human Sciences for Education of the University of Milan-Bicocca, and involves anthropologists (all specialized in African Studies and migration), psychologists, and one ICT user experience expert. Our partners are the NGO ACRA Foundation, and the social cooperatives Diapason and Ruah.
